NASFL Museum "The Avenger" Newsletter
The original "Avenger Newsletter" started during WWII for the personnel at the Naval Air Station Fort Lauderdale. It was printed with a low cost Mimeograph machine on the first year. We have a large collection of these original newsletters available for research in the Museum's library. These newsletters are filled with local, national, and international stories and war updates, photographs, illustrations, recruitment propaganda, personal stories, and veteran's features. In 1945, the Daily News owned by R. H. Gore Sr, took over the publication in exchange for advertising. After the war, the Avenger Newsletter stopped printing. In 1995, the NASFL Historical Association began a print Newsletter for its members. In April 2011, the historical association published its first digital newsletter. These digital issues are available for download here, and they'll be archived for viewing online. The current Avenger Newsletter is filled with donor updates, museum events, historical vignettes, and all the latest museum information. Each issue features articles and photos, interviews, or veterans history dealing with Naval, Marine Corps, Army, Air Force, or Coast Guard. It also features artwork and/or photographs from the Museum's collections. Have a story to tell? Contact Us
